Some now believe that the Adelaide is a natural hybrid between the Crimson Rosella (Playtcercus elegans) & the Yellow Rosella subspecies (Playtcercus elegans flaveolus), as birds can vary in yellow &/or red intensity, & hybridising is known to occur where their ranges cross i.e. Crimson X Yellow Crimson X Adelaide Yellow X Adelaide
