The
captive bred Blackbird is available in quite a wide range of mutations:
Cinnamon:
Cocks are an even rich ground coffee colour.
Daffodil yellow beak
and eye-ring. Brown eyes, light horn legs and feet.
Hens
are generally of a lighter shade, more a milky
coffee colour. Throat and upper breast are speckled. Yellow
ochre beak and eye-ring, with the upper mandible still retaining
a brown wash.
In
both sexes, the colour should never be patchy or diluted excessively.
Sex-linked
colour mutation.
Ino:
Cocks
are white, although a grey suffusion is allowed. Daffodil
yellow beak and
eye-ring. Deep red eyes, light horn to pink legs and feet, clear
claws.
Hens
are also white but with a lessened grey suffusion. There may be
some slight throat and upper breast speckling. Yellow
ochre beak and eye-ring, with the upper mandible still retaining
a brown wash.
In
both sexes, the colour should not contain heavy grey or brown
suffusions or have any solid feathers whatsoever.
Sex-linked
colour mutation.
Cinnamon-Ino
(aka Satinette, Cream, Grizzle): A
red-eyed self bird which appears visually as a clear bird i.e.
white, only showing any melanistic colouring underneath the flight
feathers which distinguish the Satinette as a self bird, not a
clear bird.
Cocks
are white with a light tan suffusion, thus the plumage looks creamy.
Wings and tail are pale cinnamon with darked edging. Daffodil
yellow beak and
eye-ring. Deep red eyes, light horn to pink legs and feet, clear
claws.
Hens
are also white but with a lessened cinnamon suffusion, so are
a very pale cream. Slight throat and upper breast speckling possibly
present. Yellow ochre beak and eye-ring.
In
both sexes, the colour should not be patchy or have a poor (too
heavy or too light) cinnamon suffusion.
Sex-linked
colour mutation.
Albino:
Cocks
are pure white with no suffusions at all. Daffodil yellow
beak and eye-ring. Clear red eyes,
flesh pink legs and feet, clear claws.
Hens
are identical to cocks except for the yellow
ochre beak and eye-ring.
In
both sexes, the colour should not contain any colour suffusions
or solid feathers whatsoever.
Recessive
colour mutation.
Blue
(aka Opal, Single
Factor Dominant Dilute):
A
self-bird. Characterized by the inhibition of brown melanin in
it's plumage thus creating a gray/blue striated melanistic pigmentation.
Cocks
are an even rich slate blue. Minimal brown suffusion on the upper
breast is allowed. Silvered tail (milky
gray/blue glaze),
with defined melanistic ticking and lacing (edging). Daffodil
yellow beak and eye-ring. Dark eyes, diluted legs and
feet.
Hens
are also slate blue but edging is much more distinct. Yellow
ochre beak and eye-ring, with the upper mandible still retaining
a brown line.
In
both sexes, the colour should not contain heavy brown suffusions
or have any solid feathers whatsoever.
Dominant
Dilute Single Factor (SF) colour mutation.
Silver
(aka Agate,
Double
Factor Dominant
Dilute): Cocks
are an even silver colour with a characteristic moutache. Light
silvered tail, with very fine and delicate melanistic edging.
Daffodil yellow beak and eye-ring. Dark eyes,
diluted legs and feet.
Hens
are identical to cocks but the edging is slightly more distinct
and she retains the yellow ochre beak
and eye-ring, and the brown line on the upper mandible.
In
both sexes, the colour should not contain brown suffusions or
any solid feathers.
Dominant
Dilute DF colour mutation.
