Wingu is a very sweet tiny Cockatiel. She whistles frequently and has been trying to talk since she was 6 weeks old. She loves all people and will take to anyone. Wingu likes to have the sides of her beak, cheeks and jaws tickled. Overall, Wingu is a happy little girly, is very feminine & is always pleased to see you with a big smiley expression on her face.

September, by which time the weather was becoming very cold. All 4 hatched successfully, but 2 chicks died within the first few days, with only the first hatched chick and Wingu surviving. Sadly the other chick suffered sour crop and died. Wingu wasn't being fed properly or kept warm and so her growth became severely stunted.

I pulled her for hand-rearing at 3 weeks (she was only the size and devleopment of a 14 day old chick). She had a broken right hip, her whole body had been squashed to one side (her legs, crop and trachea are leaning towards the left side of her body) and she had severe pneumonia in her left lung. Thankfully I managed to get her to the vet in time to treat the pneumonia with Baytril, but nothing can be done for her legs. Wingu had a second respiratory infection in about her 10th week, this time in the upper tract. Fortunately she recovered well.

Rocky has been hand-reared so is tame & talking. His best friend is Thistle, and also the late Logan.

He's very active & a great flyer which earned him the nickname of Concorde in his old home. He is very affectionate and loves his tickles. He also seems to have stayed in his adolescent phase and so has got a bit of an attitude- he bites if he doesn't get his own way, and regularly tells us off! He also has grumpy days.

I rehomed Rocky on the 13th April 2003. I tried pairing him to Anya & Teasel, but Rocky believes he is human, is paired to me and is scared of birds. He likes to watch and sing to the other birds but will not interact at all. He is a sunflower seed addict and so is only allowed them as treats.

Fern is very active, sweet and gentle. She likes to climb. She used to be very jealous of my relationship with her mate Cole and if he cames to sing or see me, she would bite him or stick her tail in the air so his attention is completely drawn away from me. She has mellowed a lot since she has had her babies.

Bought from a breeder in September 2001. She is a quality bird- very long tail with very wide chest. I have had her since she was 3 months old. She is always very broody & loves being a mum.

Proven Cock

Very active and completely devoted to Fern- he never displays to any other bird & will do anything she wants him to. He is extremely friendly and always comes for a chat when I go in the aviary. He also blows kisses.

Bought from PS UK Stafford in March 2003. I bought him from the Stafford Spring Bird Sale from an excellent breeder. Cole is monogamously paired to Fern & they are very prolific.

She produced a Pearl Pied chick (who sadly died) & Thistle with Ice & Blue. She has proved to be an excellent mother with her first baby and I am sure she will make an even more wonderful breeder next time, now she has the experience.

Bought June 2003 with Raine from a breeder. They were sold as a proven breeding pair but they are both cocks - Ice does have a banded tail which would have led the breeder to believe he was a hen, but the fact that he sing's, whistles, mimics and displays, plus the factor that pied cocks can retain their tail barring, has enabled me to determine that Ice is indeed a cock.

He has deformed feet - his toes curve sideways and aren't very 'malable' i.e. don't grip very well.

Ice has paired to Snowy in the past, but is now fully bonded to Teasel, with Blue. The trio are proven, having successfully reared Thistle.

Hen

Exceptionally quiet & generally docile, but will not take any nonsence from the other Cockatiels. She's the 'gran' of the flock.

Rehomed in July 2003. Snowy was sold as a 1-2 year old bird but she has a '96 closed ring on her leg. Snowy was sold unsexed (though probable hen). I now know she is a hen as she is quiet and doesn't 'sing'.

Cinnamon. She has yellow feathers dotted throughout her plumage - these are not Pied markings. I don't think this is due to liver disease/damage or a nutritional deficiency, as she is healthy and fed a balanced diet. Still, every time she moults she becomes more yellow - her whole chest and abdomen are now yellow.

Extrmely large and graceful with a beautiful crest. Likes a good shout. More nervous than Ffil, but still friendly.

I rehomed Ffil & Khierstie on Thursday 16th August 2007 from their loving South Wales owners who are moving home to South England and cannot take them with them.

Her crest has been very slightly thinned out by Ffil.
